Forty strandings, or attempted stradings, of Mobula mobular – also called spinetail devil ray or Mediterranean manta – in one month alone in Spain, France and Italy. Five more cases in just the past weekend alone, three of which in Italy. The causes are still unknown, but experts are working on it.

call the local Coast Guard
do not crowd around the animal
Wait for the experts to arrive
Mobulas have big powerful wings and will use them to get away from the beach, so watch out!
