LIFE European Sharks was a guest of the Lega Navale di Grado, with Saul Ciriaco from Shoreline who, with thirty years of experience in the Gulf of Trieste, spoke about the critical state of conservation of elasmobranchs in the Mediterranean and in particular in the Adriatic Sea. But it was a continuous exchange of information: there were many questions and just as many accounts of encounters with sharks and rays.
It was an opportunity to demonstrate best practices to follow when encountering different species of sharks: meetings such as this are a good opportunity to discuss protection measures, even for species that do not appear to need them. We look forward to seeing you at our next meeting!
